How To Beauty Responsibly
In recent years we’ve been lucky enough to understand how our individual choices affect the world we live in. While many of us have changed our everyday routines and shopping habits to be more eco-friendly, it can be hard to be sustainable and green in every aspect of our lives. However, it’s vital that we all understand how important it is to play our part in being eco-friendly every day. Even small changes can make a difference. While you may be recycling, using less electricity, or driving your car less, you may not know how to be sustainable when it comes to your beauty products and routine. But never fear, we want to help you beauty responsibly. Read on to get the full down low on how to make your beauty routine sustainable and eco-friendly.
The basics of greener beauty
Sustainable beauty is about action, especially because we’ve got our planet to consider. So, from skin care to hair care, we’re here to give you the low down on greener beauty. Because sustainability matters and the more people who are eco-friendly, the better for our earth long term.
What you do at the end of a product’s lifecycle matters – namely what you do with the bottles and packaging. All those bottles of body wash and tubes of moisturiser add up. So, if you’re not sure if you can recycle a product package make sure to check the label. It’ll often have a symbol to tell you what sort of material it’s made from and what recycling it needs. And fun fact: most beauty product packaging is plastic and therefore can (and should) be recycled. So, next time you finish a moisturiser, body wash or shampoo, instead of throwing the packaging in the bin take an extra moment to recycle it correctly. It may be a little step for you, but if we all do likewise, it’ll have big impacts for the earth.
Get familiar with greener products
Do you know how green your beauty products really are? Are they packaged in recycled or recyclable material? Or do the formulas include naturally derived ingredients? Fun fact: Garnier considers an ingredient to be naturally derived if it is unchanged from its natural state or has undergone processing, yet still retains greater than 50% of its molecular structure from its original natural source. If not, here are a few products to help overhaul your beauty cabinet, and take the first steps to a greener future.
