We couldn’t be more excited to introduce our new partnership with Garnier where each month we’ll be taking you on a journey of discovery, exploring all things green and sustainable beauty. With COVID putting a dampener on pretty much every fun social activity in 2020, it was with great joy that we attended the Garnier x Take 3 for the Sea, Moonlight Cinema screening of I am Greta on January 20, where $2 from every ticket sold nationally went to Australian non-profit, Take 3 For the Sea.
If you haven’t heard of it before, Take 3 For the Sea is one of our favourite organisations who have created a global movement centred on something so simple. Their message is that if everyone who swims in the ocean took just three pieces of rubbish with them when they left the water, our oceans would be drastically cleaner. To date, 10 million pieces of rubbish is removed annually, with participation in 129 countries!
As the sun began to set across Sydney’s Centennial Park, the screening began with a video message from Take 3 for The Sea co-founder Tim Silverwood and Garnier Ambassador, marine biologist, model and activist Laura Wells - who was also our neighbouring movie buddy for the night!
As we chatted about our shared visions for a greener beauty industry, she told us; “seeing a large multinational corporation influence the future of consumerism and set a positive example for other companies to follow makes me optimistic about the health of people and the planet”
“It’s been so empowering to witness the values of a healthier future embedded at all levels of the company and see staff actively promote and be proud of the fact that they are changing for the better,’’ she says.
And we couldn't agree more!
As we snuggled down into our bean bags to watch the film, we couldn’t help but feel hopeful about the year ahead. When global brands like Garnier start listening to our collective desire for climate justice, there begins to be hope real change can happen.
