Smells great but not quite clean.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the concept of this product and have used products like it before with great success. Unfortunately this one didn't work for me as a regular use product. I found that I still had product build up even after a double shampoo, my roots felt oily and my ends felt dry. The product smelt great and as a travel option I would use it for 1-2 weeks. As a deep cleanse product I wouldn't rely on it for my particular hair type, I need something that does a little be more work on my scalp as well.
I love that it's vegan and is 98% biodegradable, these are things I look for when buying beauty products, it just needs to work a little harder for me to repeat buy.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Hair is so silky and smooth!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love how easy it is to switch to a zero-waste method of washing your hair by replacing bottled shampoos with Garniers shampoo bars. My hair is looking and feeling so silky and smooth after 3 weeks of using the Garnier shampoo bar and I'm obsessed with how amazing it smells. I usually have quite dry hair but my hair is looking really hydrated and healthy after I paired the shampoo bar with the Garnier Banana Hair Mask and I'm so impressed. The shampoo bar is so easy to use, and It is very long-lasting as I still have pretty much a full bar after 3 weeks of use! I am definitely going to continue to use Garniers line of shampoo bars because they are so effective
Yes, I recommend this product.

Great cleansing bar
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoyed trialling this product, but not for the reasons advertised. The shampoo bar is little harder to use then ordinary shampoo and a little messier, although I quickly got use to this. What I found this great for was for clarifying. It removed all product build up and residue and left my hair squeaky clean. It meant my hair stayed clean for three days even after working out, which is usually never the case for my extremely oily hair. Warning - this shampoo does dry out your hair, great for my oily scalp but not good as advertised as a nourishing bar. Would repurchase but would not recommend for dry hair.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Love the smell!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tried this Garnier Fructis Banana Hair Food shampoo bar as part of beauty crew team and quite like it. Love that this product has zero plastic waste! They Made my hair feel soft and smooth, and the smell is incredible.
I was hesitant at first to use it as I don’t want my hair to smell like banana but at the end i still give it a chance to use and no regret! The only minus from this product for me is leaving a residue/ abit of chunck after use so i have to make sure i clean my hair properly and its taking a bit longer time than my usual bath time. Great for travel as you don't need to worry about leaking bottles!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Good for those short on time days
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The banana hair food bar is a great alternate to liquid shampoo. It come well packaged and easy to use. I have long dry coloured hair and liquid shampoo and condition does help keep it healthy and less tangled. The shampoo bar did smell amazing and was a bit different at first to use but did soap up the hair nicely. I did find that it matted my hair a lot and needed a good bit of conditioner to unmatte it. I must admit it did make my hair have a nice shin to it and smell amazing. It would be a great alternate for those days that you can't be bothered doing a full hair wash or arw short on time. Combined with other banana hair food products it would make a great combination
Yes, I recommend this product.

Shampoo bar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The idea behind this product it self is great having used no plastic since that's the way the world is heading
The shampoo bar didn't seem to work amazing for me I have very normal sometimes dry ends but I found this to dry my hair out and make it a tangle mess I love the idea but it isn't for me I find it very hard to find a shampoo and conditioner that actually work for my hair even though I have a normal hair type alot of products dry my hair out or make it very oily and this product did that the smell is nice but the bar does seem like a normal soap bar does shrink and start to crack like soap
No, I do not recommend this product.

Nicely scented deep cleanse
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have very thick wavey hair and because of this I have never tried a shampoo bar before. It did take a bit if work to get enough lather in my hands to create enough product for my type of hair but when I did it gave a great clean feeling. The banana scent is quite strong when lathering but it leave a nice subtle scent after rinsing. After conditioning my hair it felt clean and soft and I could continue with my usual routine of washing my hair twice a week without any greasey build up that can come with some shampoos. I love that the product cuts down on plastic waste and is made from plant based products. I would definitely recommend this product alongside a great thorough conditioner.

Amazing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hair food 2 in 1 has an Amazing scent, I could smell it through the box before opening it, we were very excited to try this, Both myself and my son liked using the banana hair food and will be buying this more regularly. It’s a great product and was easy to wash my 4 year olds hair and made our hair smell and feel great. Hair food made my hair feel fantastic, I wish I knew about this product sooner. I love that the shampoo bar is a simple way to wash hair, is free from chemicals and smells amazing all in one bar of soap. It’s really helped my dry hair become less dry and feel amazing again.

Left feeling greasy
I love the idea of the product, however after using it for the first time it just didn’t lather over my hair very well. i have fairly thick hair and it just didn’t reach my roots as much as the liquid shampoo does. i also noticed after blows drying and straightening as per usual, my hair was still left looking and feeling greasy. i usually shampoo twice and only out conditioner on my roots and i did the same with the bar but it just doesn’t seem to get my hair as clean as i’d like it too. the idea behind the product is amazing but i wouldn’t recommend if your hair gets greasy easily.

Garnier Fructis Hair Food Shampoo Bar – Banana
4 years ago
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Garnier Fructis Hair Food 2-in-1 Shampoo Bar – Nourishing Banana is a nice solid shampoo bar. It was easy to use and it sudsed up well. The shampoo bar has a nice fruity scent that stayed on my hair after rinsing and blow-drying it.
The shampoo bar left my hair feeling kind of smooth and easy to brush, even when I did not use a conditioner after washing my hair with the shampoo bar.
Garnier shampoo bars come in small cardboard boxes so there is zero plastic waste. One Garnier shampoo bar is equivalent to two 250ml bottles of shampoo.
The Garnier Fructis Hair Food 2-in-1 Shampoo Bar – Nourishing Banana is a decent shampoo bar that I would recommend to someone wanting to try out solid shampoo bars.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Shiny result but lots of arm-work
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I've never used a shampoo bar before, and what initially drew me in was the simple packaging and lack of plastic. I have used this product several times now, and have noticed that the bar leaves my hair super shiny and feeling very clean. I also feel that I can go more days between washing my hair too which is great. The only things that don't make this shampoo bar worthy of 5 stars is that the smell is quite potent for me and it does take some patience to work the product through the hair, as it doesn't lather. I am used to products that don't lather, so it didn't bother me that much, but as my hair is quite long now, it did take some time. I would recommend this bar to people with much shorter hair.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Interesting concept - decent product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks Beauty Crew for sending this product for trial!
The shampoo bar presented an interesting concept that is environmentally friendly too. I also used this product while travelling to Melbourne, thus saving me the worry of having to carry extra weight in the form of a shampoo bottle. While this product is easy to carry and use, my hair felt rather drier upon first time use. I believe this may have been also attributable to the change of weather we are currently experiencing with winter conditions taking place. Following further uses, I felt my hair was cleaned well and also remained grease free for up to 2 days. I do recommend using a conditioner in order to restore the moisture and hydration in hair.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Not bad

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Smelt amazing but found it made my hair feel itchy and not as clean. The smell was incredible though and my partner has been using it in his beard and finds the product great for that. The product just may not have agreed with my hair hence why it felt itchy. Was very easy to apply which was nice and surprising as I thought the bar of soap shape would make it difficult. I was thankful to try the product as I had been curious for awhile but don't think I would continue using it or purchase it myself. I did notice that it made my hair shinier but once again it just didn't feel as clean and made my head quite itchy. I reccomend to give it a go as everyone is different and it works great on beards apparently! Haha

Best thing for your hair
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am literally loving this product. I had never tried a shampoo bar. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this bar but oh my. I loved my hair so much. Because I tried banana flavoured (Can we call it flavour? Hahah) My hair smells banana. I will definitely try other hair foods. I am getting hooked up on buying these now. Also the fact that it is eco friendly and this bar gives me happiness thinking of it. I feel fresh and it works just like a shampoo. How amazing. I recommended this bar to my best friend because I loved it and now she’s recommending it to other friends as well.

Banana shampoo bar
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve tried the shampoo bar for a few weeks and found the banana shampoo bar smells AMAZING, I love that it’s eco friendly packaging, but it leaves my hair feeling extremely dry and just out of control. I have frizzy hair, so I’m not sure how it would go on straight hair. I wouldn’t recommend it on hair that is curly or frizzy because it made it unmanageable. The application of the bar is difficult to and as much as it smelt good, and it’s eco friendly, I’ve found I would prefer a shampoo bottle for ease of use and convenience. I wouldn’t personally purchase the product for myself but I definitely say if you have straight hair and don’t mind a bit of application time if you have long hair, then definitely try it.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Hair Food
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Garnier Fructis Hair Food Shampoo Bar Banana smells delicious! It comes in a little cardboard box which eliminates a tonne of plastic usually encountered in haircare products. It is such a great idea to eliminate excess packaging and provide a sustainable solution. I was a little unsure about using a soap for my hair but it certainly was easy enough to use and it seems to go a long way. The bar made my hair feel soft and clean, but most of all smelt amazing. My hair afterwards was quite smooth and soft. I felt as if it was effective and will continue using the bar.

Smells Amazing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Banana Garnier Fructis Hair Food Shampoo Bar works just as well as any shampoo.
I love that the packaging is more environmentally friendly than regular shampoo bottles. But the real selling point is the smell! It smells amazing and it’s so strong! I absolutely love it.
The only negative thing I have to say is that it gets cracks like a regular bar of soap does, but that’s only a very minor/cosmetic thing.
I would definitely recommend this product, as you will help reduce plastic waste, and because it will leave your hair smelling absolutely incredible.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I felt like I had the salon treatment at home with this Garnier Fructis Banana Hair Food shampoo bar! Love that this product has zero plastic waste! It smells delicous and was easy to use. Made my hair feel soft and it didn't knot my hair as much as other shampoos have in the past. I wash my hair every second day and this shampoo kept my hair feeling clean even on day 3. It didn't leave any noticeable grime in the shower. Great for travel as you don't need to worry about leaking bottles! Will definitely be trying other products in this range like the mask.

Sweet fruity smell
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first ever time I am using a solid shampoo. I have really dry and long hair so I am using also using conditioner after the bar, and it gave me good results. Anyhow bar shampoo making less foam, may be its sulfate reduced( not sure), still I am okay with the results and fruity smell it lasts for days,
Most importantly packaging, I am really feeling honoured to participate in plastic free world, so I will definitely give a chance to replace my usual shampoo with bar. And solid bar shampoo, perfect for travelling, no more spillage in bags while travel. Moreover it is price efficient as well, it lasts longer then the bottle shampoo. Most of the ingredients are plant based, feeling more natural. Absolutely love this product.

A great shampoo bar
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Garnier Fructis Hair Food Shampoo Bar - Banana come wonderfully packaged in a convenient little box. The idea behind this product is fantastic, helping reduce waste and it makes washing hair so much easier. The bar had a pleasant scent and was lovely to use, leaving locks feeling cleansed and nourished. The light fragrant scent stayed and was a nice touch while my hair was easy to brush/comb after, I would happily recommend others give this a try. I like that it is a vegan formula, is 98% biodegradable and dermatologically tested. Fast rinse is great and with no preservatives, artificial colourants and with many other benefits it is truly an amazing product. Simple to store and makes such a difference to my every day routine and the planet.

Slightly undecided
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Garnier Fructis Hair Food Shampoo Bar - Banana came as a pleasant surprise. I won’t lie that I was apprehensive to get a shampoo bar for the first time.
The 94% plant-based ingredients that are made with 100% FSC recyclable cardboard packaging, meaning there is no plastic waste is so important with daily items such as shampoos which I tend to run through.
The product itself had a lovely not over baring scent and with a bit of water created a great lather for ease of application.
Only thing I’m unsure about is the amount of washes you can get out of it. After the first couple of washes my bar as dramatically shrunk. The portion control is slightly harder to manager with a bar than a pumped bottle solution.
Guess I’ll have to wait and see on that!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Nifty Idea
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never used a shampoo bar instead of normal shampoo liquide. It was a very exceling and new experience. First thing that hits you is the amazing smell of the product. I did not think it smell exactly like banana but close enough. Overall the smell was lovely. Once using it,, it was easily to apply and use. Afterwards my hair felt soft and smell lovely. The only down side is how do you store the bar after using it. I stored it on the soap holder but it went everywhere. Therefore I felt like i wasted a lot of the product

Great for thin hair
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited to try the Garnier Fructis Hair Shampoo Bar as I've wanted to try a shampoo bar for ages as I want to get more and more green with the items I am purchasing and using. The scent was probably the biggest downfall as I felt it lingered a tiny bit too long. I'd love a mint or green tea scent and hope they extend the range. Its great that its vegan friendly, dermatologically tested and biodegradable too. This way more people can use it and its better for the earth. The product itself I found pretty easy to use once I got the hang off it. For reference, I have shoulder length thin hair that's dyed pink right now. It washed out easily and didn't leave a residue. I'll definitely continue using it and am looking forward to trying different scents.

Not a fan!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The concept and idea is very well thought of but ... i am not a fan of solid shampoos in general. This one i thought would change my view but fell short. It smells so good though and soft in the hair but it is so much work to lather and scared that i might end up with chunks of the soap in my hair. It also melts easily so i still like the liquid form so much better. It helps the planet but it is inconvenient for me to be honest. I think this also will cost me more than using the usual shampoo in bottles. Nice try though.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is such a great shampoo bar compared on others I have tried. It lathers up really well so it is easy to apply and gets your hair nice and clean. It smells amazing and will keep your bathroom smelling nice long after you have used it. This product would be great for travelling on planes and reducing luggage weight. It will also last a lot longer than a bottle of shampoo which I love as it reduces so much waste! Make sure you keep it in a soap container though because it tends to dry out and crack a bit.

Way to go Garnier!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using this for a few weeks now and am super please with the results. It's great as it doesn't dry out the hair too much and leave it feeling overly squeaky clean. I loved the smell and found it to be great at really cleaning my scalp and leaving me feeling fresh with no residue or dryness. I am trying to be more conscious in my beauty choices and love the sustainability and lack of plastic for this product. The bananas scent was great, however my only real issue with these bar products is storage. I often will come back to it melted into my soap holder in the shower or disintegrated into smaller pieces or mush and find it hard to get the full use out of the product. Great step forward from Garnier though and love how accessible smarter and greener choices are becoming to the general public!

Love this shampoo bar!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Garnier Whole Blends banana shampoo / conditioner are possibly my all time favorite shampoo / conditioner, so I was so excited to see them come out with a banana shampoo bar! For me, it works just as well as the regular shampoo - it smells great, is easy to use and lathers well, and keeps my hair clean for a satisfactory amount of time. Plus, this shampoo bar doesn’t cause any tangles in my hair, unlike some other shampoo bars that I’ve tried. My hair is bum length, so this soap goes relatively quick even when not using it on the full length of my hair. It seems one bar will likely last me 3-4 weeks using it 2-3 times a week. Based on this, it might still be cheaper for me to get the regular liquid shampoo, but I love this just as much. I’ll definitely come back to it later, especially for traveling!

Great zero waste product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoyed the concept of having a zero waste shampoo product to use and it was my first experience using a cleansing bar.
I found the concept of the bar to be great but the product itself needs a little improvement.
I have long blonde hair and I found the bar a little hard to work in with my hair and found that it didn't lather up a lot. I also found my hair to be a bit dry after using. I had to follow up with a treatment conditioner afterwards.
I really enjoyed the zero waste aspect of the product but did find storage of the product a little difficult afterwards and a I had to put it in a soap dish to keep it dry.
I recommend the product for someone with finer or shorter hair where less product is needed, I found for myself with thicker longer hair it didn't work as great.
The concept is excellent, the product needs to be less course and more nourishing.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Great Idea but Not an Ideal Substitute
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was the first shampoo bar I have ever tried. The packaging was simple/ convenient and I wanted to use it to help the environment but I wasn’t that impressed. Whilst the shampoo left my hair with a beautiful smell there were many flaws to this product. This product did not produce any lather and it was really difficult to use. I won’t be using it again and instead will return to my regular shampoo. I really want to find a way to reduce plastics, especially in the bathroom where we can't swap over to glass and these bars offer the perfect opportunity for change. But while the idea is great the execution isn't. I have long curly hair, so just getting the product into my hair was a chore. It definitely wasn't as hydrating and nourishing as I was expecting it to be. I will not be using this product again due to my thick hair. However, this product would suit thinner hair.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Smells good enough to eat!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the garnier fructis banana hair food shampoo bar as part of the beauty crew trials. I was very interested to try this product as I never knew they made anything like this. I love that it is zero plastic waste and is packed in the cardboard box just like a normal soap bar. The product has a delicious scent like fruity banana smell, smells good enough to eat! It lathers really well and I can imagine the bar will last for a long while, much longer than a bottle of shampoo/ conditioner. I really wanted to like this product as I would gladly swap from bottles to shampoo bar to minimise plastic waste, but I found my hair just wasn’t as thoroughly clean as normal.
One thing I will say is I would buy this again for travelling. It takes up far less space them bigger bulky bottles, wouldn’t leak, and you don’t have to worry about the liquid on flights. So I would recommend for this reason.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I love the idea of being eco friendly and try to buy products like this to support the environment. On to the testing I found that the shampoo was a bit drying for my hair as I already have dry frizzy hair so if i used it on its own it wasnt any good for my particular hair but when i paired it with the garnier fructis bannana hair mask my hair came out nice and silky smooth. With the two together my hair has felt better than it has in a long time. I struggle normally to brush my hair if it is not wet and have conditioner in it but after using these products for a week I can brush my hair anytime. I love the banana fruity smell which I noticed does last a long time in my hair so I can smell it most of the day. I would definitely recommend this product for an almost salon feel to your hair.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Very nourishing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recieved this as part of a reviewcrew trial and am so glad I did! I have tried the liquid version of this shampoo and much prefer the shampoo bar. I find the bar to be much more hydrating and better suited to my hair.
The scent of the bar is identical to that of the shampoo, a delicious, warm, creamy banana scent that lingers subtly after rinsing.
A little goes a long, long way with this bar! It lathers up to a beautiful, soft, bubbly lather that gently cleanses the hair without ever leaving it feel stripped or dry. (For referrence my hair is waist length, thick, wavy, dry and damaged at the lengths and ends)
I find this to wash out easily, no residue or tacky after feel. It actually is more hydrating and easier to rinse out than the liquid version!
I used it with my usual conditioner and my hair was left noticeably softer, easy to manage. I really enjoyed using this shampoo bar, it is a big thumbs up from me.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Just as good as traditional liquid shampoo!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Never having used a shampoo bar I had my doubts that this would really be as good as traditional shampoo. However it honestly performed just as well!! It lathered surprisingly alot, when I double cleansed it left my hair squeaky clean without being too drying and omg the smell is amazingggg!!! Like a banana oat smoothie!! Honestly was so easy to use - just rub it on your hair until it lathers and away you go! I actually found it less messy and easier than trying to squeeze shampoo out of a difficult to squeeze bottle. I do love the idea behind this as well, causing less waste for the environment. The only annoying thing is you have to store it in a dry place which is very difficult in the shower! I just put it back in the box but of course that did get wet too - I think if you put it in one of those travel soap cases, it would be fine though. Honestly this exceeded my expectations so much. Hopefully they release a bar conditioner too!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Basic bar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this!
This shampoo smells amazing.
This is perfect for me and my partner, it lathers amazingly and goes a long way.
My hair feels super clean and shiny.
Downside is my hair does get a bit frizzy and dry with this and my hair gets greasier quicker which means I am washing it much more than usual.
I love the idea of no plastic bottles as I'm trying to implement more sustainable beauty items.
My partner loves this so much and he doesn't use have a bottle, perfect for kids as well.
I think this is a great basic shampoo for the whole family but nothing special in terms of hair care.
The smell is so good and I'll be getting the leave in conditioner.
But while the idea is great the formula isnt great. I have long curly hair, so just getting the product into my hair was a chore. It definitely wasn't as hydrating and nourishing as I was expecting it to be. I will not be using this product again due to my thick hair. However, this product would suit thinner hair.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Cleansing/nourishing shampoo bar
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first shampoo bar I have ever tried and I am so impressed. 94% of Garnier Fructis Hair Food 2in1 (Cleanse+Care) Shampoo Bar is derived from plants. The banana scent is pleasantly strong and the back of the packaging even features a little hole so you can have a smell of the scent first without opening the packaging. I love that the cardboard packaging is recyclable and there is no plastic waste. The shampoo bar is
actually two shampoo bottles worth and I don't have to worry about the space the plastic packaging would usually take in my bin. It's compact and great when travelling and on the go. Alternatively it sits neatly in my small bathroom.
The shampoo bar has a creamy but firm texture and lathers easily between my hands before gently applying it from the top of my head to the tips of my hair. I love the added sunflower oil and coconut oil, all the plants included in the ingredients list really nourish my hair and leave it feeling healthy and shiny with a beautiful fruity scent afterwards.
It also suggests on the back of the packaging that it's shelf life lasts 12 months after its first use. I highly recommend this product and it's vegan friendly too.
Yes, I recommend this product.

My first time try shampoo bar and I'm in love
4 years ago
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you for introducing me to this shampoo bar, it’s my first shampoo bar I have ever tried. I don’t know what to expect. PACKAGING: simple small paper box, no extra plastic wastes, Eco-friendly, good for the environment. I’ve been searching for an alternative solution to reduce plastic wastes, and I supporting all beauty companies taking their moves. I’d love to see other coming with better packaging solution.
TEXTURE: solid block of soap like other body soap on the market but this one is for the hair. It has a slightly banana scent, very refreshing.
ABOUT ME: I’ve oily long straight, fine hair, no coloring, sometimes flaky.
When I use it, I wet my hair first then I wet the soap to create a layer of foam, just enough to wash my hair. I find it’s effective on my hair as my normal liquid shampoo. I use the same range of banana conditioner/mask after washing to de-tangle my hair.
This small bar will last up to a few months, because you can control the amount of foam, and you just need a little bit. After used, you let the bar air dry as normal on the rack.
I highly recommended this bar to everyone because I personally loved it so much and likely to repurchase it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Great smell, great volume. Good for full family, nice creamy lather - not too bubbly
