"3 of my favourite ‘lightened up’ cocktail recipes, that are super easy to make, delicious and minus the guilt!"

There’s nothing better than sipping a cocktail (or mocktail) on a summer afternoon with friends. What’s even better than that is whipping up some of your favourite concoctions in a healthier way so you don’t feel the guilt or overload on sugar.

I’ve pulled together 3 of my favourite ‘lightened up’ cocktail recipes, that are super easy to make, delicious and minus the guilt!

This revised version, has about half the usual calories but the
same refreshing flavour!

6 x Limes
Lime juice
Bunch of fresh mint
Soda Water

Fill a martini shaker with a cup of ice. Add 6 lime wedges, 1 ½ tbsp lime juice, about 5 fresh mint leaves and muddle all together until well mixed.

Combine ½ tsp of warm honey, 60 mls of rum and about 120mls of soda water. Combine both mixtures and pour into a glass with some more ice.

Sparkling Fruit Sangria

This is a lighter version of normal sangria, and is super easy and perfect to prepare the day before a party.

1 orange, thinly sliced
1/2 lemon, thinly sliced
1 cup blueberries
1 cup raspberries
10 large strawberries, sliced
1 cup orange juice
1 750ml bottle sweet white wine
1 750ml bottle champagne

Place all fruit and orange juice in a large pitcher or bowl, add wine and allow to sit in the refrigerator for 3 - 24 hours. Right before serving, add champagne.
If you’d like it slightly sweeter, you can add in ¼ cup of brown sugar. for recipe.

Skinny Margarita

Not nearly as sugary as the original, this version has a noticeable burst of fresh orange taste!

1 shot, or 3 tablespoons tequila
3 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon freshly-squeezed orange juice
1 tablespoon water
2 teaspoons agave nectar

For a classic skinny margarita, add tequila, lime juice, agave, orange juice, and water to a cocktail shaker (or a glass), and shake (or whisk) for about 10 seconds to combine. Strain and serve over ice. Add a garnish of fresh lime if desired. for recipe.
