"Get glowing this month!"

With summer in full swing, it’s only natural to want to feel and look your best. But this shouldn’t cost you the earth. In fact, many of the best ways to glow this summer just involve changing your mindset. Here I introduce my tips to get your skin, mind and body glowing this summer.

We’ve always been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but in order to get the most from your mind when you’re feeling a little lacklustre, I swear by tweaking my lunch. Out with the quinoa salads and in with some protein-rich foods. I’m thinking oily fish, chicken, eggs and pulses – which ensure my mind stays stable and alert even on the hottest summer day.

Get outside

In order to get my body revved up and looking its best, I swear by an outdoor workout. Whether it’s a run, a swim, some beach yoga or an outdoor circuits class, it’s the best way to get me feeling better both inside and out. It’s a great idea to try and incorporate an outdoor workout into your lunch break if at all possible – not only will it leave you feeling invigorated and like you’ve achieved something, but it will also combat any fatigue or potential for an afternoon slump.

Try a probiotic

I first got into probiotics about a year ago, and now I swear they’re the reason I’m never sick anymore and my skin looks more radiant. Stir a little of a probiotic like ‘The Beauty Chef’s Glow’ powder into your smoothies, muesli or porridge oats. Probiotics are also supposed to be good for giving your metabolism a bit of a kick – that’s why I’ll always try to take mine first thing in the morning.

Treat your skin while you sleep

There is no better way to get your skin glowing than while you’re asleep – our skin is in rest and repair mode at night, so you need to make sure you’re giving it something that will intensively nourish it. I favour Garnier’s Miracle Sleeping cream to intensely rehydrate, smooth and firm my skin while I sleep.. I’ll also do a face mask once a week in order to get rid of the dead skin cells making my complexion look dull. For this I recommend Garnier Pure Active 3 in 1 wash, scrub and mask.

Mix it up

The best fitness advice I’ve ever been given is to mix up your weekly routine. After a while, our bodies stop responding to the form of exercise we do the most. For instance, after I run for a couple of weeks without doing any other form of exercise, I stop noticing a change in my body. If you can mix HIIT (high intensity interval training) with weights and Pilates, you’ve probably got the dream combination for getting your body in shape.
